November shall be a month to remember. Did you know that November starts on the same day of the week as February in common years and March every year. And that November 19 is International Men's Day? Thanks, Wikipedia. Looking forward to making the move back to Paris later in the year while keeping a foot in Cambridge.

Basketball in Africa? An intriguing image, and one which spurred me on to Senegal, Angola and South Africa, as well as Japan and the USA to document the game that is blossoming on the continent today.
WATCH THE TRAILER for the documentary film, and be sure to follow the Angolans at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics!

AfroGoals! (French version) Watch the French version on the web

Since 2004 I have produced the English version of the show, writing the scripts and adding the voice for American style sports commentary.

In 2004 I accompanied three expatriated Cameroon artists (a dancer, Assiko guitarist and a balofonist) and a percussionist from the Ivory Coast as they traveled from Paris to their home continent on a re-juvenation tour. The musical voyage provided the inspiration for a new CD, and the resulting documentary - currently in post-production - is scheduled for release in 2009.

see HRW's books Holt, Rinehart & Winston

In 2005-06 I acted as a creative consultant and general facilitator for American publishers Holt, Rinehart & Winston as they prepared their "Bien dit!" French textbooks. I coordinated location and talent scouting, shooting permits and authorization, as well as logistical and budgetary demands for 8 weeks of shooting over a one-year period in Paris, Rennes and Nice, France, and Dakar and St. Louis, Senegal.

Inspiration hit my friend Yves Manga as he was on a motorcycle tour in Cameroon - he would use the attention that motorcycles attracted in the cities and villages to address the AIDS problem in Africa. The result is MotoAction, a not-for-profit organization of which I am treasurer and which began operating in Cameroon in 2005 with AIDS awareness campaigns, rallies, events, testing and education.
